In "Plane," pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island –– only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare's helop, and will learn there's more to Gaspare than meets the eye, (Gary Reber)

Special features include the featurettes "This Is Your Captain" (HD 14:18), "Plane Crash" (HD 06:51) and "Brace For Turbulence" (HD 19:14), theatrical trailer and a digital copy.

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The often impressive picture appears perfectly natural with a coolish color palette. Hues in the jungles of the island exhibit earthy green shadings. Hues throughout exhibit nuanced natural shadings. Flesh tones are perfectly natural. HDR contrast exhibits deep black levels, revealing shadows and bright sunlight shadings. This is a terrific looking picture that exhibits excellent detail. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with lots of automatic rifle fire and airplane engine noise and crash mayhem. Surround energy is plentiful and dimensional. Bass response is deep and at times powerful, such as when the plane encounters a violent storm. Atmospherics are realistic sounding such as the enveloping jungle sounds. Sound effects are also very realistic. The orchestral score extends wide and deep with enveloping surround energy. Dialogue is generally well integrated spatially,

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an extension of the orchestral score and numerous atmospherics sound effects such as an intense lightening storm, crashing plane sounds, some jungle and village ambiance. A lot more could have been achieved as there were so many opportunities of height layer dimensionality.

This is an excellent hoosonic® soundtrack with good dynamics and a sense o realism. (Gary Reber)
