In "Three Thousand Years Of Longinig," Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic...a creature of reason. While in Istanbul, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. At first, she doubts that he is real and she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. But the Djinn pleads his case, and eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both! (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Panavision® using the Arri Alexa LF, Arri Alexa Mini LF and Red Komodo camera systems and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture is presented with storytelling imagery that is stylized during exotic Middle Eastern settings of various time periods except for Alithea's sterile hotel suite, which retains a very conventional natural appearance. The old world imagery is complex in texture and reflects several completely different environments and settings. These are all organically exotic and beautiful, with impressive textural complexity. The textural spectrum is beautifully creative. Color fidelity is superb with fine nuanced shadings and nicely saturated hues. Flesh tones consistently retain naturalness. HDR contrast is excellent with deep black levels, revealing shadow delineation and natural whites. Resolution is nicely captured in the diverse imagery. Facial features are revealing of fine detail in skin pores, lines, hair and beards. Clothing and fabric texture is finely resolved. Object textures exhibit realism and fine detail. This is a compelling adventure whose settings, production design and color palettes constantly shift. Picture quality is superb. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel is dynamic sounding with a wide spectrum of sonics that support each environment and setting and the stunning visual effects, which are supported by deep bass energy. Panning effects are excellent across the soundstage. Surround energy is strongly enveloping with directionality, as during Alithea's hallucinations. Atmospherics are realistic and often quite energized, Sound effects are often powerful and create excitement, Bass extends deep and at times is powerful, but never overbearing. The music is diverse but cinematic and spread wide and deep across the soundstage with strong surround extension. Dialogue is perfectly natural with good spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprise of a strong extension of the music as well as effective atmospherics and sound effects such as passenger airplane engine sounds, wind and other numerous effects and din atmospherics that support the motion in various environments and settings. Even dialogue is at times strong. This is a very effective height channel treatment that enhances spatial dimensionality.

This holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack delivers a captivating sound design for an effective dimensional soundfield experience. (Gary Reber)
