In "Uncharted," street-smart thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago. What stats as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world's oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate's long-lost brother... but only if they can learn to work together. (Gary Reber)

The 2.35:1 1080p AVC 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Hawk Scope using the Arri Alexa Mini and Arri Alexa SXT Plus camera systems and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. Color fidelity is excellent with perfect flesh tones that are natural. Color depth is excellent with hues that often pop, e.g. the flashy red sports car. Nuanced hues reveal fine shadings and textures. Clothing exhibits wonderful color depth and impact. HDR contrast is superb with natural black level, revealing shadows and natural white levels. Resolution is excellent with fine detail exhibited in facial features, clothing and object textures. Texturally, the resolution refined and captivating. This is a beautiful looking movie that is visually stunning. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is very dynamic sounding with superb atmospherics and effective sound effects that are realistic throughout. The sound effects are at times powerful with deep sub-25 Hz support. Gunfire and explosions are realistic. Atmospherics and sound effects extend aggressively to the four surround channels. The orchestral score is wonderful with a wide and deep soundstage that extends aggressively to the surrounds for complete envelopment. Musical clarity and fidelity are superb. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an aggressive extension of the orchestral score. As well, atmospherics and sound effects extend aggressive to the height layer, which excitingly enhances the spherical surround experience. The creators of this soundtrack really understand the importance of the height layer and have delivered one of the very best Immersive Sound experiences. There is so much attention to nuances and as well energized atmospherics and sound effects that deliver constant height layer extension with directionality. Other filmmakers should take note and learn from this Immersive Sound experience.

These elements perfectly blend to create a reference soundtrack experience that perfectly draws the listener into the movie's impressive action set pieces. This is a dynamic holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that is compelling throughout. (Gary Reber)
