"Spirit Untamed" is a story of adventure, family and friendship. Free-spirited Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced) moves to Miradero to join her estranged father (Jake Gyllenhaal). She is decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy town until she discovers a unique tie to her late mother who was a fearless horse-riding stunt performer. She quickly forms a bond with a wild mustang named Spirit and makes two new pals who love horses as much as she does. When a heartless wrangler plans to capture Spirit and his herd, Lucky and her friends set off on an epic journey to rescue the horse who has given her an unbreakable connection to her mother's legacy. (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was animated digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is superb. The color palette is nicely saturated with rich and warm hues, often that pop. Facial hues are natural. The animation is well crafted with excellent resolution throughout. Contrast is excellent with bright highlights, deep blacks, and revealing shadows. This is a beautiful visual experience that will enthrall the entire family. Beautiful throughout. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 7.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused with clear ADR renderings in sync with the animation. Atmospherics such as wind are realistic. Sound effects including Foley sound effects, such as horses' hoof sounds and trains, are in perfect sync as well. The orchestral score is widely projected within the soundstage and extends to the four surrounds. Surround envelopment is nicely balanced with the frontal sounds. This is a very pleasing and effective holohonic® soundtrack that is enjoyable throughout. (Gary Reber)
