The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was photographed digitally in Panavision® using the Arri Alexa Mini and Arri Alexa XT camera systems and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture is generally good. The color palette is nicely saturated with strong hues that often pop, yet fleshtones retain their naturalness throughout. Resolution is also good, with well-defined facial features, hair, stubble, interiors (including the limo), object textures, and set pieces. Contrast is good, exhibiting excellent black levels, both during nighttime exteriors or low-light interiors, with revealing good detail. Highlights are effectively bright and natural in appearance. This is a bright, visually attractive picture that works well to convey the story. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack sounds good, with a lively music score that occupies a wide soundstage and surround balance. The music is enhanced with a strong low-end presence. Party and prom scenes are supported with a range of effective sound elements as atmospherics and sound effects. The sound is evenly presented without a generally wide dynamic range. Dialogue is intelligible and generally integrated spatially well. Sound quality is good throughout, making the sonic elements nicely integrated and effective. (Gary Reber)
