In Focus, Will Smith stars as Nicky, a seasoned master of misdirection who becomes romantically involved with novice con artist Jess (Robbie). As he’s teaching her the tricks of the trade, she gets too close for comfort and he abruptly breaks it off. Three years later, the former flame––now an accomplished femme fatale––shows up in Buenos Aires in the middle of the high-stakes race car circuit. In the midst of Nicky’s latest, very dangerous scheme, she throws his plans for a loop…and the consummate con man off his game. (Gary Reber)

The 1.78:1 1080p AVC picture features a saturated color palette, with dense hues and contrast with deep blacks, vibrant highlights, and revealing shadow delineation. Colors pop, especially on the red dress worn by Jess. Fleshtones retain a natural appearance. Resolution is excellent, with fine detail exhibited in facial features, hair, clothing, and object texture. Overall, this is an intensely colorful and engaging picture that will not disappoint. The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is a lively affair, with a diversity of music, with a driving beat. The music is enhanced with solid .1 LFE energy that enhances the dynamics. The music is nicely recorded with a wide soundstage that extends aggressively to the surrounds. Atmospherics and sound effects are effectively interspersed during the more lively settings. Dialogue is consistently intelligible, with good spatial integration. The overall experience is mostly holosonic®, with an aggressive and immersive soundfield, with directionalized surrounds.
