Based on the book "Simulacron 3" by Daniel Galouye, "The Thirteenth Floor" is an engrossing thriller with science fiction overtones. Douglas Hall (Bierko) and his nervous pal Whitney (D'Onofrio) work at a high-tech company that offers a virtual reality fantasy where you experience a different world, while your body remains in the present time—parallel universes, if you will. Their prototype virtual world is Los Angeles in 1937. But when the leader of the project is discovered murdered, Hall is suspected and he must completely enter this other world to prove the truth. (Gary Reber)
