Steve Martin returns to a role in dentistry, starring as mild-mannered Dr. Frank Sangster who is happily engaged to his dental assistant, Jean (Dern). Unfortunately, Sangster finds his life seriously in need of Novocaine following his decision to give a sympathy prescription to drug-addicted patient, Susan (Carter). No sooner does Susan manage to allure Sangster, does she rob his refrigerator of narcotics, then frame him for the theft. (Suzanne Hodges)
