Story Synopsis:
Based on the characters created by Ross La Manna, the fastest hands in the East re-team with the biggest mouth in the West in Rush Hour 2. DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.40:1 DVD picture exhibits sharp and detailed images, though some scenes appear slightly soft. Colors are rich and vibrant, with accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation exhibit good balance. There is a bit of edge enhancement noticed, especially in high contrast scenes, but pixelization is infrequent. After installing the Interactual Player 2 components of Rush Hour 2, you are brought to the DVD-ROM main menu, which consists of links for Script to Screen, Original Web site, and Hotspot. The menu is presented very well, with a great Asian feel. Also on the menu are pictures of the four main stars that change when you hover your mouse over them. Clicking the Script to Screen link will bring you to the script page, which is very consistent with the theme of the main menu. They general layout is exactly like most other titles, with the text on the right and a small window showing the scene on the left. An online link to the original theatrical Web site can be found by clicking the button labeled Original Web site. Once you arrive at the site you can enter the Detectives section to find dossiers on Chan and Tucker, the Club for cast and crew biographies and photos, the Yacht for the complete story and memory based game, and the Casino for production notes and a slot machine type game. By press time, the link to visit the New Line Hotspot was not working correctly, but is most likely similar to other New Line releases, and will link you to a random New Line supported Web site. Playing the movie from the DVD-ROM menu links you directly to the DVD-Video main menu. Since I expected more directly on the disc, I was very upset to find most of the useful data locked up on a Web site, and am disappointed more fun games were not incorporated with this title like what were found on Rush Hour. The main menu for the sequel is greatly improved from the original, but I have always enjoyed content over presentation in the past, and am not going to veer away from that course today.
