    Detective Harry Callahan is back in The Dead Pool, the fifth installment of the Dirty Harry series. When several celebrities turn up dead and Harry

    DVD Picture:
    Available in the widescreen format for the first time on video, the 1.78:1 DVD picture can be a satisfying visual experience, exhibtiing images that are generally sharp, with good contrast and shadow delineation. Colors are nicely balanced, with accurate fleshtones, rich hues, and deep blacks. However, there are signs of smearing and loss of detail that appear to be related to noise reduction, and the undefined look can be bothersome (like the typing on the letter in Chapter 8). Edge enhancement, pixelization, and shimmering details are evident. The source element is revealing of minor film grain and a few artifacts. (Suzanne Hodges)
