The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits an appropriately dark picture for the subject matter. Colors are dreary, but well balanced, with lots of grays, blues, and greens to give the picture a moody feel. Blacks are deep and solid throughout. Images are sharp and nicely detailed, with good contrast and shadow delineation. The source element is revealing of film grain and occasional artifacts. Edge enhancement is minor, and there is little pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)The DVD also includes a modified 1.33:1 version (not reviewed).
Reason #96 Why Readers Love Widescreen Review:
I enjoy reading WSR because it is much more informative than the run of the mill A/V mags. The articles on cutting edge equipment are excellent. I enjoy the home theatre set-up articles. The movie reviews are first rate. Keep up the great work.
