DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture exhibits pleasing images that are generally sharp and detailed, but interior scenes can appear smeared and plugged-up. Colors are rich, if a little oversaturated, with exterior scenes having a more natural, open quality than many interiors. Contrast and shadow delineation can be satisfying, but detail is limited in the darker scenes. There is evidence of edge enhancement at times. The source element is revealing of a few artifacts. The DVD is much more defined, with improved contrast when compared to the LaserDisc. (Suzanne Hodges)
