Story Synopsis:
The Godfather Part II follows the steps of its predecessor, gathering seven Academy Awards
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD has a more vintage appearance, since the movie takes place earlier than the original Godfather. Colors are intentionally desaturated, at times bordering sepia tones. Blacks are deep and brownish and often undefined. The picture is generally sharp, though fine details are wanting at times. Film grain and artifacts are detected, but otherwise the picture is quite clean. There is a bit of edge enhancement apparent. Compared to the LaserDisc, the picture is much more solid, with improved contrast and color delineation. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack is similar in nature to the original movie, having once again a nicely immersive music score and some immersive atmospheric effects. The music, despite being dated-sounding, as is the case for the rest of the sound mix in general, is quite pleasant to experience, often with prominent surround engagement.
