DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture is unquestionably preferred over the LaserDisc, which appears smeared and undefined by comparison. Viewed alone, the picture is generally sharp and nicely detailed. The black-and-white scenes exhibit good gray scale quality. Many scenes are richly colored, with bold reds, blues, and greens. The clarity and definition on this DVD is what should really impress fans. The source element is revealing of some artifacts and dirt. (Suzanne Hodges)
