Story Synopsis:
Withnail & I is the autobiographical cult favorite by Bruce Robinson.
DVD Picture:
The non-anamorphic 1.85:1 DVD can be nicely detailed, with satisfying sharpness, but overall the picture is quite soft and undefined. Colors are generally well balanced, but with slightly weak blacks. Shadow delineation is satisfactory, but contrast seems a bit low. the source element is revealing of a few artifacts and minimal film grain. Still, some edge enhancement is noticed, as well as occasional aliasing problems and shimmering details. (Suzanne Hodges)
