    Story Synopsis:
    Tracy Turnblad (Lake) is one of the best dancers at her high school, and one of her most special dreams is to be one of the regular dancers on The Corny Collins show in Hairspray, a dance-crazy comedy with a warm message. When Tracy gets her opportunity to audition for the show, she makes it, but is soon disheartened when she discovers that the Corny Collins show is not integrated. Divine is just that as Tracy

    DVD Picture:
    The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD delivers with vivid, eye-popping hues. Colors are well balanced with accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. Images are quite sharp and detailed, though at times the picture seems to be wanting in definition. Fine details shimmer on occasion. Compared to the LaserDisc reviewed in Issue 26, the picture is more refined with sharper images. (Suzanne Hodges)
