Four brothers return to Clearwater, Texas to pay their last respects to their mother. There they reunite after years of being apart. DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD has the typical look of westerns in terms of color fidelity. Hues are well balanced, with lots of browns and brownish fleshtones. Blacks are quite deep overall. Images are generally sharp, but fine details and definition are wanting. At times the picture has a slightly flat appearance. While most scenes are free from edge enhancement, at times its presence is distracting. The source element is revealing of artifacts and dirt. The DVD picture is preferred over the previously reviewed LaserDisc (Issue 30) in terms of sharpness, definition, and color balance. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack is big fat mono. When ProLogic-decoded, the audio is properly placed in the center channel. The vintage audio, like other classic John Wayne reissues from Paramount, has been very nicely restored.
