Story Synopsis:
Shanghai Triad is freely adapted from the novel Gang Law by Li Xiao (Li Baotian) and takes place in 1930, Shanghai. The city

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits images that are quite soft and appear slightly smeared at times. Color border oversaturation at times, but hues are rich and often nicely balanced. Edge enhancement is noticed on occasion, but there is no distracting pixelization. Despite the soft quality of the picture, the cinematography is enchanting. (Suzanne Hodges)
