Compared to the horribly oversaturated LaserDisc reviewed in Issue 17, the anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits beautifully refined colors with balanced fleshtones and deep, pure blacks. Images are sharp, with nicely rendered details in costumes and facial details. A bit of soft smearing is apparent in some scenes. Minor edge enhancement, pixelization and artifacts are apparent, but the beautiful cinematography and pleasant visuals should be quite pleasing.
Reason #75 Why Readers Love Widescreen Review:
I read Widescreen Review because WSR is my fog lights that cut through the murk and confusion of the twists and turns of the road to home theatre. It provides clear directions and warning signs to any would-be traveler.
