Story Synopsis:
Based on the novel by Patrick Quinn, Thick As Thieves is a straight-to-video crime drama that stars Alec Baldwin as Macklin, a thief-for-hire with a taste for jazz and a soft spot for little dogs. As careful as he is in selecting his jobs, he gets set-up by Pointy (White), a small-time gangster looking to increase his sphere of influence. Soon the two are engaged in a battle of sometimes comic one-upmanship that attracts the attention of a lady cop (De Mornay). It
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits good quality, with especially pleasing darker scenes. Shadow delineation is nicely revealing of visual information, and colors are more pleasantly rendered in the darkness. The brighter scenes appear stylized with warm colors, but border oversaturation, with orange fleshtones. Images are sharp, and fine detail and clarity are nicely rendered. Minor pixelization is occasional, but overall the picture should surely please.
