Special Notes:
Originally released theatrically with a running time of 164 minutes.
Story Synopsis:
Faraway, So Close is the story of angels who drift around post-Cold War Berlin, eavesdropping on people
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture features both black-and-white images as well as color. The black-and-white scenes exhibit good gray scale quality, with deep blacks and bright whites. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered. Images are sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered fine detail and definition. Colors are more refined than the LaserDisc reviewed in Issue 13, and images are sharper by comparison. The color scenes are fully saturated, but slightly "digital," with apparent edge enhancement as well as minor pixelization. Minor source element artifacts and film grain are evident. (Suzanne Hodges)
