  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
People Of The Wind is an Oscar

DVD Picture:
The picture, shot in 16mm during the '70s, is appropriately revealing of film grain throughout. The fact that the grain is excessive can be a bit distracting, yet the non-anamorphic 1.75:1 DVD picture also has a rugged texture that is somewhat complementary to the documentary footage. Dirt and print scratches are apparent throughout. The picture is not very sharp and lacks detail throughout. Colors can appear rich and balanced, but are often washed out. Edge enhancement is noticed throughout the picture for a DVD that is a poor example of the format. Nonetheless, the images are engulfing.

Soundtrack:
The Dolby(r) Digital 2.0 soundtrack is clearly of dated fidelity, and the presentation is feeble surround sound with significant distortion. The music is the pervasive multi-dimensional element of the audio. At reference level, the sound seems unrealistically loud and is blaring. The four-channel soundfield is active throughout, but spatial coherence is often lacking. This documentary film offers little to impress in terms of sound.
