Story Synopsis:
Aboard the Nightingale, an interstellar emergency medical response vessel, the crew (Spader, Bassett, Forster, Tunney, Cruz) pick up a distress signal from a far-off comet in Supernova, a movie so troubled its director opted for anonimity (at least for the on-screen credits). When the crew arrives at their destination, they discover that this emergency is not something they can fix with bandages and splints. Have they been duped into some type of intergallactic plot? For this distress call has led them right into the explosive eye of an impending...Supernova! (Laurie Sevano)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a sharp and detailed picture that is quite pleasing throughout. Images are sharp and finely defined into facial details, though some scenes appear a bit "pasty." Colors are rich and vibrant, with naturally rendered flestones and deep, pure blacks. A considerable amount of film grain is revealed throughout, as are artifacts. Pixelization is noticed, especially in scenes that depict details on the spacecraft. Minor aliasing is occasionally apparent. Overall, the vibrant, stylized colors and sharp imagery make for a pleasing picture, though there are some distractions.
