Story Synopsis:
Smith and Lawrence team up as fast-talking, wisecracking buddy cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. They have just four days to catch a thief (Karyo), who stole $120 million in heroin from a government compound, before the FBI shuts them down. Their only lead is a hooker (Leoni) who witnessed the heist and her friend
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits this highly stylized picture with very pleasing quality. Perhaps the dual layering helps tone down the occasional shimmer apparent on the DVD released earlier. Other than that, the picture is sharp and detailed. Colors are rich and vibrant, but stylized with filters for smoggy browns or deep blues. Minor pixelization is occasional.
Soundtrack:
The Dolby(r) Digital 5.1-channel discrete soundtrack is very well produced and will certainly provide for an energetic listening experience. Fidelity is generally very good, and the sonic character tends to be on the aggressive side, but won't be overpowering. Dialogue is presented with clarity and good spatial integration, though it also sounds slightly muted. The soundfield is impressively open and spacious with the music. Sound effects are distributed throughout the listening space with convincing depth, as well as effective split surround engagement. Bass is deep and generally moderately powerful, with occasional intensity from the front channels, along with some .1 LFE content.
