Story Synopsis:
This explosive sequel to the original sci-fi thriller has been re-issued on DVD as a DVD-18 Special Edition. James Cameron
DVD Picture:
The THX Digitally Mastered, anamorphically enhanced 2.40:1 DVD--which incorporates newly transferred special edition footage into the 1997 high-definition transfer--exhibits similar image quality when compared to the previously released DVD. The DVD picture is sharp and finely detailed, with superb shadow delineation. Colors are stylized with cold blue hues throughout the dark scenes, and visual information reaches into the deepest blacks. Images are sharp and detailed into backgrounds. The only complaint is the appearance of occasional edge enhancement, but overall the transfer is nicely done. Fine film grain is noticed, but there is no distracting pixelization.

DVD-ROM Review:
After installing the DVD-ROM features for Terminator 2: Judgment Day, you are brought to the DVD-ROM main menu, which has a great theme for this film. Once here, there are only three options to choose from, however. These are: View the Script to Video Feature, Play the Movie, and Links to Online Events. The script is available in both the Theatrical Version and Special Edition, and you are given the option to choose between the two after clicking the View the Script to Video Feature link. This script is very similar to some of the newer scripts released (i.e. The Abyss), with the same layout of text on the right, video on the left. This also has the same feature of being able to switch just the script and storyboards, or the script, storyboards, and video chapter. You can also switch the video from the window given to full screen at any time by clicking on the video feed window. This script does not include any print capabilities. The Online Events link sends you to a special page with only Terminator 2 events (finally!) featured on it. From this site, you can try to "Survive Judgment Day," where you will get a training manual teaching you how to defeat the machines, and are able to take a test that will prove how well you would do face to face with the machines. You must have an Internet connection established to go to this site, and once there you must register to play the game. When playing the film from the PCFriendly software, you are brought directly to the DVD Video main menu, which works well using your mouse. I am very disappointed with the lack of features included with Terminator 2, but everything that is here is very well done. The online game is well done, but not being included on the disc hurts my feelings towards it. All of the intense Flash programming for the main menu is extremely well done, and really boost the score this title should have received. (Danny Richelieu)
