The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 picture is beautifully rendered, with warm, fully saturated hues to accentuate the feel of the penitentiary in the sultry South of the 1930s. Colors are rich and nicely balanced, with deep pure blacks. Images are sharp and finely detailed, down to the beads of sweat on the actors
