DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture exhibits image quality that should surely please. Images are sharp and well defined. At times, the picture exhibits slightly soft images, but there is no apparent smearing. Though somewhat dated, colors are well balanced. Fleshtones can be naturally rendered, though at times a bit reddish, and blacks are quite deep and solid. There is some apparent edge enhancement, giving the picture a hard-edged character at times. Infrequent minor shimmering is noticed. Compared to the previously reviewed LaserDiscs, the DVD is much more refined with improved clarity and contrast. (Suzanne Hodges)
