Story Synopsis:
In 1984's East Germany, only certain citizens were allowed to live private lives. As a playwright, Georg Dreyman (Koch) was one such individual. But when Minister Bruno Hempf (Thomas Thieme) becomes infatuated with Dreyman's girlfriend Christa-Maria Sieland (Gedeck), his life becomes anything but private. (Tricia Spears)
DVD Picture:
With solid black levels and well-rendered shadow delineation, the anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD can look very dimensional. Details are resolved well and contrast is balanced nicely. Color is appropriately saturated, although hues are limited for a neutral appearance. Source element artifacts can be noticed at times, and edge enhancement is minor. (Danny Richelieu)
