Story Synopsis:
Hayley (Page), a 14-year-old with a 30-something-year-old mind, meets Jeff (Wilson), a 30-something-year-old fashion photographer, in an online chat room, and soon they are meeting for coffee and a ride back to his place in his Mini Cooper. But as drinks are poured, clothes are shed, and secrets revealed, the day takes a surprising turn and the predator becomes the prey. Hard Candy premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. (Jack Kelley)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture generally looks good, with accurate flesh tones, finely captured details, and vibrant colors. Blacks are deep, and shadow delineation is good enough to convey the details in darkness. Edge enhancement and pixel breakup can distract from the image, especially in high-contrast transitions and long shots. (Danny Richelieu)
Soundtrack:
The quiescent Dolby
