Story Synopsis:
Playwright Robert (Sarsgaard), deeply in debt and still distraught over his lover's death, sells his true-to-life script, "The Dying Gaul," to high-powered producer Jeffrey (Campbell) with one catch: he must change his lover's name to that of a female in order to make it a bankable movie. His distress is momentarily eased as a friendship with Jeffrey and his wife Elaine (Clarkson) forms, but soon these newly-found relationships become nothing but lies coupled with betrayals, finally ending in a myriad of shattered lives. (Jack Kelley)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture looks sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered textures. Colors are well balanced and richly saturated, with accurate fleshtones and deep blacks. The source element is revealing of some film grain and minor flecks of dirt at times, especially scenes that simulate the email conversations between the characters. (Suzanne Hodges)
