WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
In the 1800s the white man came "Into The West," bringing with him change and a threat to the Indians and buffalo. This TNT six-part miniseries takes place throughout most of the century and covers such events as the initial migration west, the introduction of the railroad, and discovering gold; as well as focusing on the interaction between the white man and the Native American. (Tricia Spears)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced picture quality for this miniseries looks very pleasing, especially considering the genre and period of the storytelling. Colors are rich and warm, with nicely balanced fleshtones and generally deep blacks. Sharpness and details are nicely presented, and while there are some scenes that appear a bit soft at times, textures are also quite satisfying. The picture can look a bit dim at times, but shadow delineation in the darkest scenes is adequate. Rarely are edge halos apparent, although pixelization is noticed at times. (Suzanne Hodges)
