Story Synopsis:
If wealth were based on the number of children bore, well, Evelyn Ryan (Moore) would be a rich woman with 10 of them, but this is not the case. Rather she is married to just-one-more-drink Kelly (Harrelson), who also has a hard time holding down a job, so, being the resourceful and talented woman that she is, she enters contest after contest, often selling items won in order to feed her family. DVD Picture:
Anamorphically enhanced at 1.85:1, this DVD looks quite nice with a color palette that is perfectly complementary for the the 1950s and 1960s setting. Images are satisfyingly sharp and detailed, with nicely balanced contrast and shadow delineation. The look of the picture provides a nostalgic feel, with clean imagery and little in the way of bothersome edge enhancement or pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
