  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Fists of Fury tells the tale of Cheng (Lee), an innocent country boy who is sent to live in the city with his uncle and cousins. He has promised his mother that he will refrain from fighting, but he is repeatedly tested when he goes to work in a local icehouse with his cousins. Immediately he is suspicious of the tyrannical boss and after some of his cousins are killed, Cheng must exact revenge on the criminals running the business. The Bruce Lee Master Collection (from which this movie was viewed) contains five discs: the documentary,

DVD Picture:
While better than the previously released non-anamorphic DVD, this new anamorphically enhanced 2.32:1 DVD picture is pretty mediocre. Images are flat and lack delineation and the picture appears bright and washed out. Dirt and other artifacts are prevalent, but some scenes are suprisingly clean. (Suzanne Hodges)

Soundtrack:
Although this new release features Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround 5.1-channel soundtracks (the original DVD release was big fat mono), it is still of poor quality, with distortion and poor dialogue intelligibility. Atmospheric effects, however, do sound fairly natural, with each of the full range channels used well in their reproduction. Music is presented better than in the original release, but is basically monophonic in its presentation. The DTS track provides slightly better resolution than the Dolby encoded track. While this release is infinitely more enjoyable than the original DVD release, the horribly recorded dialogue can be a huge distraction. (Danny Richelieu)
