Story Synopsis:
Originally created for viewing in IMAX

DVD Picture:
While it is unfortunate that this 1.78:1 DVD (reformatted from its original IMAX framing) is not anamorphically enhanced, the picture still looks quite good. The large format IMAX-originated images deliver the grandeur of the ocean and the uncharted territories and creatures in its depths. Graphics and titles can appear a bit soft or undefined, but otherwise the picture is quite clean throughout. The first scene is the most problematic, appearing a bit undersaturated with a slight flicker, and minor edge halos. (Suzanne Hodges)
