  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Very different from the other Batman movies, "Batman Begins" stars Christian Bale as the caped crusader and Michael Caine as Bruce Wayne's trusted butler Alfred. After losing his parents in a mugging, young Bruce grows up to be an angry man bent on revenge and retribution. After traveling the world and learning to fight, Bruce returns to his home in Gotham City determined to free the good citizens from the evil that has claimed the city. Based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman created by Bob Kane. (Tricia Spears)

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture looks quite impressive, with colors that pop from the screen with rich saturation at times, while other times exhibiting a desaturated appearance that is complementary to the dark mood of the story. Images are sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered textures. In the dark night scenes, as the Dark Knight looks out over Gotham City, blacks are truly deep, but with excellent shadow delineation. There is very rarely any distracting pixelization, although minor edge halos and slight smearing are occasional. Despite those minor nitpicks, this movie looks amazing. (Suzanne Hodges)
