Story Synopsis:
Charlie Richardson (Goss) was one of the most feared gangsters in British history. On July 30th, 1966, England won the World Cup and Richardson was arrested. Through his court hearings, we learn about this brutal crimial and how he adjusts (or fails to adjust) to his 25 year prison sentence. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture looks good, with a stylized color scheme that can be quite stellar (even over the top), while other times (like the court scenes) appearing desaturated. Fleshtones tend to appear a bit orange in the more vibrant scenes. Sharpness is satisfying, with nicely rendered details. At times the picture is intentionally blurry for effect, but other times smearing does not seem intentional and is a distraction. Pixelization is noticed at times, and there is occasional edge enhancement. Overall, this is quite a creative visual experience. (Suzanne Hodges)
