  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
After his mother dies, conductor Pierre Morhange (Perrin & Maunier as the child) goes back home to attend her funeral. While at her house, he receives a visitor who comes bearing a gift. The guest is a friend from his childhood days at the boarding school where they both attended, and he gives Pierre a diary from their old music teacher (Jugnot). Through the pages of the book, Pierre reflects on his childhood and on the man who made all the difference in his life. Nominated for the 2004 Academy Award

DVD Picture:
anamorphically enhanced 2.38:1 DVD picture exhibits understated colors that are well balanced and complementary to the setting of the film. Images are nicely sharp and detailed, with well balanced contrast and shadow delineation. Some scenes appear a bit soft or slightly plugged-up, but nothing that is terribly distracting. There is very occasional and minor edge enhancement noticed at times, bit pixelization is rarely noticed. (Suzanne Hodges)
