Story Synopsis:
After losing his wife to a horrific death, Dr. David Callaway (De Niro) is left to raise his young daughter Emily (Fanning) alone. Taking her upstate to live in the quiet of the country, David is sure he's found the perfect place to start over. When Emily announces that she has a new pal named Charlie, David realizes that she has invented an imaginery friend. But when Emily is playing "Hide And Seek" with Charlie one day and a horrendous event occurs, David is left to believe that this is no imaginery friend but an evil force that must be destroyed. DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.38:1 DVD picture is sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered textures, pleasing contrast, and excellent shadow delineation. Colors are richly saturated and well balanced, with accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. The picture suffers from occasional edge enhancement and minor pixelization, but nothing that is terribly distracting. (Suzanne Hodges)
