Story Synopsis:
Samuel L. Jackson is "Coach Carter," a successful businessman who returns to his roots at Richmond High School to help make something out of the school's losing basketball team. The coach has more than his work cut out for him convincing the students and their parents that the kids need to honor the contracts they have signed regarding not only basketball but also their academics. Against the odds, the boys not only become winners but also learn the meaning of respect and discipline. But when the team doesn't hold up to their contracts, Coach Carter does something so radical that it not only affects the lives of the boys but the whole community as well. Inspired by the life of Ken Carter. (Tricia Spears)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture exhibits richly saturated and warm colors, with nicely balanced fleshtones, bold hues, and deep blacks. The picture is often sharp and detailed, with nicely rendered textures at times, but some minor smearing or loss of details are evident. The picture can have an edgy appearance, with minor halos noticed around objects. Sometimes the picture can look fantastic, while other times appearing a bit plugged up or pixelized. (Suzanne Hodges)
