The special feature on disc one is a commentary track by director Martin Scorsese, editor Thelma Schoonmaker, and producer Michael Mann. Disc two is packed full of special features, including the deleted scene Howard Tells Ava About His Car Accident, and the following featurettes: the thoroughly enjoyable 12-minute "A Life Without Limits: The Making Of The Aviator," and "The Role Of Howard Hughes In Aviation History," which is a 15-minute look back on the man's fascination with aviation. There is a 44-minute History Channel Documentary entitled "Modern Marvels: Howard Hughes," a 14-minute interesting piece about his obsessive habits called "The Affliction Of Howard Hughes: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder," and a 15-minute OCD Panel Discussion With Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese And Howard Hughes' Widow Terry Moore, which took place on December 2, 2004. Additionally, An Evening With Leonardo DiCaprio And Alan Alda is a 28-minute interview with the two actors, and "The Visual Effects Of The Aviator" is a 12-minute behind-the-scenes featurette presented by the Visual Effects Supervisor showcasing the effects and how they were done. "Constructing The Aviator: The Work Of Dante Ferretti" is a six-minute presentation of the production designer and his work."Costuming The Aviator: The Work Of Sandy Powell" is four minutes with the costume designer as she shares how she dresses the different characters of the film, and "The Age Of Glamour: The Hair And Makeup Of The Aviator" is eight minutes with the make-up artist and hair stylist showing off their work. Scoring The Aviator: The Work Of Howard Shore is seven minutes with the composer explaining how he chose the music he did for the movie, and "The Wainwright Family - Loudon, Rufus and Martha" is a five-minute conversation with Loudon Wainwright, who together with his two children were singers in the film.
