    Story Synopsis:
    At times exhuberant, at times overly intense story about a jazz singer (Minnelli) and a jazz musician (De Niro) whose lives cross and intertwine in the tail end of the big band era after World War II. Hated by some, others think New York, New York is a minor materpiece.

    Exhibiting a dated and slightly soft appearance throughout, this non-anamorphic 1.66:1 DVD picture is satisfactory at best. Colors are generally well balanced, with nicely rendered fleshtones.     I love to read WSR because of the straightforward, professional equipment reviews. I also LOVE the DVD reviews. As a home theatre fanatic, I want to know the technical and quality aspects of my future purchase/rental DVDs with just a brief synopsis of what the movie is about. Other home theatre publications spend way too much space reviewing the movie itself. I will make my own judgments on the merits of the movie, what I want from my magazine is some insight on how the DVD will sound and look on my system. WSR gives the reader just that. GREAT mag!
