Vera Drake (Staunton) was a working class woman living in England in the 1950's. Loved by all who knew her, she showed kindness to everyone she met. So caring was Vera that she went out of her way to help all of those in need, even young women who found themselves in the family way. But abortion was illegal in those days, and the law didn't see things the way Vera did, which became evident when they put an end to her kindness once and for all. (Tricia Littrell)
