Complementary to the period of the storytelling, the anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD glows with soft and warm hues, with interiors lit by candle light. Lots of warm yellows flood the color palette, but fleshtones remain quite natural. Blacks are slightly weak. The picture is nicely detailed with adequate sharpness. The picture can have a hazy appearance. The source element is revealing of some film grain. Rarely is edge enhancement noticed, but there is some pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
