Story Synopsis:
Five hundred years ago, appalled by what he witnessed amongst the church's leaders, Martin Luther (Fiennes) vowed not to bow down to the corrupt officials. Speaking his mind and refusing to be silenced, Luther authored some controversial writings that were spread throughout Europe, in which he dared to question the authority of the church. DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD picture has a dim appearance that is suitable for the natural light and firelit settings. Contrast and shadow delineation are adequate throughout. Colors are nicely saturated with many understated hues for the peasants, while more lavish, rich colors are used for the noblemen in the movie. Images are generally sharp and detailed, though finer textures are sometimes compromised by minor smearing. Pixel breakup is noticed at times, as is minor edge enhancement. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
With a prominent use of each channel to create a spacious environment with music and effects, it is easy to get lost in this Dolby
