Story Synopsis:
Jack (Ruffalo) and Terry (Dern) are a married couple who are close friends with Hank (Krause) and Edith (Watts). But it's getting more and more difficult for Jack to keep a secret from Terry. He and Edith are having an affair. As Terry scrambles to keep what is left of her marriage, Edith pushes for life outside of hers. Based on the short stories by Andre Dubus. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
Exhibiting a well-balanced color palette, the anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD picture is nicely presented. Fleshtones are accurately rendered, hues are nicely saturated, and blacks are deep and solid. The picture is sharp and detailed, with satisfying textures, contrast, and shadow delineation. Pixel breakup can be a problem at times, but edge enhancement is minimal. Overall, the picture is quite satisfying for the storytelling. (Suzanne Hodges)
