Story Synopsis:
Bobby (Farrell) and Jonathan (Roberts) were childhood friends who shared a very close bond while growing up. Years later, adult Bobby goes to stay with the gay Jonathan and his wacky pregnant roommate Clare (Wright Penn). Before long Clare teaches Bobby a thing or two in the bedroom, and they end up falling hard for each other. This causes concern for Jonathan, who had planned to help raise the baby with Clare. But never fear, the friendship is strong and there's enough room in this family for everyone, including Jonathan's mother (Spacek), who played a big part in Bobby and Jonathan's upbringing. A Home At The End Of The World is based on Michael Cunningham's novel. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.40:1 DVD picture exhibits satisfying image quality throughout, with a color scheme that is richly saturated and well-balanced. The earlier scenes in the film, which take place in the 60s, look slightly drab in comparison to the scenes that are set in the present. Images are sharp and details are nicely rendered. A slightly gritty texture is sometimes contributed by film grain inherent in the source element. There is no bothersome edge enhancement, but pixelization causes the breakup of finer details. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
Even though fidelity is pristine, voices can sound slightly unnatural in this Dolby
