Story Synopsis:
There was no better captain of a merchant ship than the well-respected Lord Jim (O'Toole). But when his ship sailed off on that fateful day and ran into a magnificent storm, Jim abandoned his vessel and left all on board to die. Ashamed and disgraced, the man spent the rest of his life trying to redeem himself, not only in the eyes of everyone else but most especially in his own. Based on the novel by Joseph Conrad. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.20:1 DVD picture exhibits slightly dated fidelity, with color saturation that appears slightly weak. While fleshtones appear generally natural, blacks lack true depth. The picture has a soft appearance throughout, with slightly smeared details. Contrast seems a bit low, but shadow delineation is surprisingly adequate for the darker scenes. Rarely is edge enhancement noticed, but pixelization is occasionally present. The highlight of Lord Jim is Freddie Young
