DVD Picture:
Compared to the previously released, non-anamorphic DVD (reviewed in Issue 33), this new anamorphically enhanced 2.40:1 DVD picture really looks quite good. While color fidelity can look a bit dated, saturation is mostly rich with nicely balanced fleshtones and deep blacks. Occasionally fleshtones appear a bit orange or brownish. The picture is sharp and nicely detailed. Minor flecks of dirt are noticed in the source element. Edge enhancement is occasional, but not terribly obtrusive. Only occasional shimmering details in the sets are noticed, but overall the picture is quite strong. (Suzanne Hodges)
