Story Synopsis:
Inspired by the true story of the Dutch Venlo gang who rampaged the streets of Holland during the 1990s, Godforsaken tells the story of a teenager who takes up with the deadly gang. Bored with life and ignored by his parents, Stan (Weeber) finds escape when he joins up with a hot-tempered criminal (Gernandt), who entices him into a crime spree that becomes more and more violent with each act. When they are hired by a crimelord to serve as contract killers, their bloodsoaked friendship unravels as they lose their grip on reality. There are no supplements. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture has a gritty texture provided by ample film grain inherent in the source element. The picture has a very desaturated appearance that is visually complementary to the grim storytelling. Much of the imagery is awash in an understated brown or yellow tinge. Unfortunately, the picture is quite soft overall (the end credits are even difficult to decipher). Some pixel breakup complicates matters with a bit of a digital appearance, but edge enhancement is not obtrusive with this title. (Suzanne Hodges)
