Story Synopsis:
The extremely controversial and much publicized The Passion Of The Christ is Mel Gibson's version of the story of Jesus of Nazareth (Caviezel) and his final hours of life. Very graphic in detail, the film is not for the squeamish, as it vividly portrays Jesus being beaten and crucified before being nailed to the cross. Whether or not you believe that this is a religiously accurate portrayal of true events, it is a cinematic masterpiece. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The picture is incredibly detailed, despite an often-dark appearance. Many scenes are awash in cool blues or warm, firelit hues to visually set the tone for the storytelling. The color palette is strong, with incredible saturation. Fleshtones are naturally balanced and blacks are deep and solid, while the abundance of blood is a painfully realistic red. On very rare occasions is there any sign of minor edge halos, but nothing that can be considered distracting. Pixelization is also rarely noticed. The picture, framed at 2.40:1, is very solid throughout. Caleb Deschanel
